Dropping In?
Whether you're passing through San Francisco, or looking to make a home at United Barbell, we welcome experienced CrossFitters. If you are already proficient, you may drop in to any All Levels class on our schedule or our Open Gym hours. Here's what you need to do:

  • Book your space in class. The drop-in fee is $30.
  • Fill out our online waiver before you arrive.
  • If you wish to shower, please bring a towel.

Reserve your class
Our classes are capped at 18 athletes to ensure safety & quality. All members, drop-ins, and 10-pack holders are encouraged to sign up for classes ahead of time. For more information, please see our Policies.

Classes are capped at 18 athletes. We recommend that you sign up for your class in advance to ensure you will have a spot. You can drop by without signing up for a class, but if there are already 18 athletes registered, you will not be able to join class. You are also welcome to wait to see if there are any no-shows, however we do not run an official wait list.

Late To Class Policy
In order to ensure that classes start on time, we are very strict about lateness. If you are more than 5 minutes late to class, you will not be allowed to join class. If you have booked your place in class, you will be considered a no-show and your place may be given away to someone waiting for a spot to open up. Please read below for our policy on no-shows.

If you are late to class, but arrive before the 5 minute cutoff, you will be let off easy with a 20 burpee penalty.

Cancellation
If you have signed up for a class but can no longer attend, you may cancel without penalty up to 3 hours in advance of the class. If you cancel outside that window, or simply do not show up to class (no-show), then you will incur a penalty.

Penalties
Depending on what type of membership you have, the penalties for late cancel or no-show are different.

For 10-pack users:
You will lose each class that you sign up for if you cancel late, or no-show.

For 2 & 3 Classes per Week Members:
Your offenses will be tallied within your billing month.

1st offense in a month: no make-up class
2nd offense in a month: $10 fee
3rd & subsequent offenses in a month: $25 fee per class

For 4+ Classes per Week Members:
Your offenses will be tallied within your billing month.

1st offense in a month: $10 fee
2nd & subsequent offenses in a month: $25 fee per class

Please note, our Open Gym sessions do not have an official athlete cap. You can drop in to to these without signing in online before - just sign in once you get to the gym. The same goes for our Restricted Drop-In Time that is available for Unlimited members.

  • Common Courtesy in Classes
  • Be ready to participate in class at the start time.
  • As in all CrossFit gyms, you are responsible for getting and putting away all equipment used during class.
  • Respect your coach - don't talk when you should be listening!
  • Be aware of your surroundings, especially when dropping weight.
  • We have a shirts-on policy.
  • If you sweat, bleed, cry, chalk, or vomit onto equipment or the floor, you are responsible for cleaning it up.
  • Items left at the gym will be moved to the Lost & Found bin, which is emptied at the end of each month.
  • Water bottles left at the gym will be thrown away at regular intervals.
  • We provide free, filtered water - bring a bottle.
  • We do have a shower. Bring your own towel.

CrossFit community at United Barbell

Visiting CrossFitters with 3 months or more experience with CrossFit are welcome to drop into any All Levels class on our schedule.

You do not need to contact us in advance. Simply:

  • Book your space in class. The drop-in fee is $30.
  • Fill out our online waiver before you arrive.
  • If you wish to shower, please bring a towel.

Please arrive at least 5 minutes early to introduce yourself to the coach. We provide free, filtered water fountains, so please bring a bottle. If you'd like to shower, bring a towel.

NEW TO CROSSFIT?

We do not allow drop-ins from those who are new to CrossFit. You must first complete United Barbell's Onramp program so you can be safely integrated into classes.

At UB our priority is safety. As such, all members must have completed UB’s Onramp Course, Personal Onramp Sessions, or have prior CrossFit training before joining classes. Click here to learn more about our Onramp programs.

United Barbell offers two levels of membership - Limited and Full membership.

Limited membership grants access to two classes per week.

Full membership grants acccess to unlimited classes per week as well as access to the gym between class hours.

Both memberships offer access to specialty classes such as SWOD, Oly, and Level 2 when you have received coach approval or tested into these classes.

Membership does not include seminars, challenges, or events.

Limited membership offers two classes per week and is a good choice if you are a beginner or are using CrossFit to supplement sport-specific training.

Full Membership $245 per month $275 per month $305 per month
Full membership offers unlimited classes per week and is for those ready to take their fitness to another level.

PAY UP FRONT: We offer a 10% discount for paying your 12 month membership up front, and a 5% discount for paying your 6 month membership up front.

DISCOUNTS: We offer a 10% discount to full-time students, Military, and first responders.

CORPORATE PRICING: We offer corporate pricing as well as opportunities for private corporate classes. Contact us to find out more.

HOLDS & CANCELLATION: You may put your membership on hold if you travel for 2 weeks or more, or if you provide a doctor's note for sickness or injury. We do not allow downgrades from Full to Limited memberships, but you may upgrade from a Limited to a Full membership at any time. Memberships cannot be cancelled without penalty except for extraordinary circumstances which are stated on your membership contract.
